Trying to Build a Business

Neil Mussan and Joseph Buccani, owners of Patriot Electric in Monroe, New York, were eager to find customers for their new business but had some obstacles to overcome. “Our biggest marketing challenge was getting people to actually give us a call. We are two young guys competing with local companies that have been around much longer,” Joseph says. They started their marketing out by personally going door to door with flyers and pamphlets they would hang around doorknobs but soon realized that wasn’t enough.

When they initially tried online marketing, Neil and Joseph received dismal results from a company that had promised more than they could deliver. By the time they learned about Yodle, Joseph says they were definitely skeptical. “After getting burned really bad and wasting a lot of money, I was skeptical about online marketing in general. I knew we needed it but I wasn’t sure how successful it would be.”

Seeing the Change

After seeing a detailed demonstration from their sales rep, Neil and Joseph started to understand that Yodle was different. “We looked at charts and some mock searches that showed us what our results could be like. It was a lot of detail and made me feel confident. That’s when I went to Joseph and told him we really needed to give online marketing another chance,” Neil says.

They quickly saw the difference after signing with Yodle. Within one month they started getting approximately seven extra calls per day and eventually most of the sales they were making came exclusively from Yodle leads.

Reaching Success

Neil and Joseph credit a lot of their online success to the adversite Yodle built for them: “It’s just so thorough. It lists every service possible and easily allows us to add our photos and customer reviews,” Joseph shares. They also benefited from being able to connect their Facebook business page to their Yodle account and believe that this is just the beginning of what Yodle has in store for them.

As Joseph put it, “We had a lot to lose when we first started this and we did it anyway. If it wasn’t for Yodle, we would be struggling with our marketing. All that we have now is based on revenue that has come out of our Yodle advertising.”
